Hi,
As there is an invitation to suggest topics for FIKAs or trainings (“If you
want to suggest another topic just send us a mail in advance to
<mailto:si-pass at stu.lu.se> si-pass at stu.lu.se”)., here is my suggestion: to
discuss together this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TWDODjUK_A or
at least the first ten minutes. Of course, supplemental instruction is a
vague term and it can point at not more than a regular course given a second
time by someone else than the teacher, without any consideration for SI-PASS
principles. It might be the case here (otherwise, the leader, if this person
is, does not make a great job on the compliance to the principle).
Nevertheless, we could think together “in the abstract”, about what else
could be done to instil more of a si-pass spirit in the process. I suggest
this video because we are still in an “online pass” time but other
face-to-face footage could also be dealt with.
More generally, I think that the available video material on “real world”
si-pass session is poor at the moment. I think I have reviewed almost every
possible resource (I can send the list and some comments, possibly to enrich
by all). I use some of them or some excerpts. But it is much work for just a
few nuggets. First, I think such a list of resources, points of interest in
each of them and suggestion of use in initial/continuous SI-Leader training
might be useful to the supervisors’ network. Secondly, I wonder whether we
should not think about developing this database of genuine or faked (there
are one of two of this king which are interesting) examples. Indeed, there
might be more out there. I guess that many teaching&learning centers
organizing si-pass have their own sessions good and less good examples (I
have some records here), unfortunately protected by the crazy laws on
personal data. In any case, I think a more systematic reflection on session
footages might somehow be beneficial to everyone committed to si-pass. Why
not a MOOC or an online course coordinated by the European Center that would
involve different partners and provide as many of such concrete – and
properly documented – resources for initial/continuous training of
supervisors and leaders?
Just ideas.
All the best.

SI-PASS Fika
Following the success of bringing Supervisors together on zoom, the Leader
Festival and the pilot FIKA in November, the European Centre for SI-PASS
(Lund University) is pleased to announce SI-PASS FIKAs will become a regular
monthly feature for supervisors and leaders. (An SI-PASS FIKA is an informal
get together over a cup of coffee/tea and a cinnamon bun (last item not
mandatory). The FIKA is free of charge and provides a chance to talk about
SI-PASS related issues or just have a chat with SI-PASS friends). The next
FIKA will be on Wednesday 21st of April at 2-3.30 pm UK time/3-4:30 CET. The
meeting is online (you don’t need to register) with English as working
language on the following zoom-link: <https://lu-se.zoom.us/j/4630658731>
https://lu-se.zoom.us/j/4630658731 . The theme of the FIKA will be “ways of
rewarding Leaders for their work”. But other topics are welcome as well. If
you want to suggest another topic just send us a mail in advance to
<mailto:si-pass at stu.lu.se> si-pass at stu.lu.se. We would also like to invite
people to try out a short online activity related to SI-PASS during the
FIKA. In our preparation of Leader training/debriefs and such we might want
to test a new activity and see how it works. If you have an idea of such an
online SI-PASS activity you want to have feedback on in the friendly setting
of a FIKA – please mail us about it.

· SI-PASS Supervisor training 20-23 of April (Fully booked). Next
Supervisor trainings are given online 4-5/7-8 October and 22-23/25-26

interest in having another Supervisor training before summer. We would
therefore like to explore if there is enough interest in having such a
training in late June. If you have colleagues that would be interested,
please tell them to send an e-mail to us to <mailto:si-pass at stu.lu.se>

Hi all,
Here has been a great interest in our Supervisor trainings this spring and we are very happy that our trainings in January, March and April have been fully booked. However, the next Supervisor trainings are not given until 4-5/7-8 October and 22-23/25-26 November and several people have expressed their interest in attending a Supervisor training before summer. We would therefore like to explore the demands for an extra Supervisor training to be held the last week of June. So, if you have colleagues that would be interested in attending a training before summer, please ask them to send an e-mail to us to si-pass at stu.lu.se<mailto:si-pass at stu.lu.se> as soon as possible. If we have an interest from at least 8 persons we will set up a training in June as well and advertise it through this list serve as well as on our website (were the registrations for our autumn trainings and additional trainings are open) www.si-pass.lu.se/en<http://www.si-pass.lu.se/en>

We are delighted that the first two online Supervisor trainings in January and March were successes with positive feedback from the participants. The last supervisor training this spring is also fully booked, but the registration for three autumn trainings (5-8 of October, 25-28 of October and 23-26 of November) will soon open up on the European Centre for SI-PASS web-site www.si-pass.lu.se/en<http://www.si-pass.lu.se/en>.
Besides these initial Supervisor trainings there are now three different additional/advanced supervisor trainings open for registration. The additional trainings are based on feedback from you as Supervisors and supplement the initial training. The trainings will be held in English and address the following topics:
· SI-PASS online. This training has been developed in response to COVID-19, but It is anticipated that many will continue to run a mixture of face to face and online SI-PASS. Therefore this workshop will explore ways to translate the model into online settings and the tools, techniques and strategies used.
· Quality Assurance SI-PASS programmes. It is essential that SI-PASS programmes have quality processes in place. To supplement the SI-PASS Supervisor training course this interactive workshop provides laser focus on the variety of quality assurance mechanisms to maintain and enhance your SI-PASS programme.
· Designing and Developing Leader training. Whether you are new to Leader training or you have been delivering training for many years, this fun and interactive workshop will facilitate sharing of practice, designing and refining SI-PASS Leader training.
The schedule for the additional Supervisor trainings during spring 2021 is as follows:
· SI-PASS online: 22-24 March 2021
· Quality assurance of SI-PASS programmes: 4-5 May 2021
· Designing and Developing Leader training: 14-15 + 17-18 June 2021 (four half days)
