International Forum for Peer Learning
Zoom Online Event (two half days)
27th and 28th January 2021
Hosted by: The International Academic Peer Learning Network and the European Centre for SI-PASS
Deadline for proposals is 14th Dec 2020
https://www.si-pass.lu.se/online-international-forum-for-peer-learning-2021
The International Academic Peer Learning Network, and the European Centre for SI-PASS, are delighted to invite you to attend this online International Forum for Peer Learning on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th January 2021.
Building on the highly successful online Forum held in May 2020, this 4th Forum promises to be another exciting event. In May 2020 we welcomed over 100 participants across time zones including from the UK, Sweden, United States, Ireland, and Australia. Presentations and discussion forums included topics about moving peer learning online, using technology, the role of peer learning in widening access to university, and developing student resilience and wellbeing.
Through attending this 2021 Forum, you can join like-minded practitioners and students for stimulating virtual debates and discussions about many aspects of peer learning. It will be an opportunity to reflect on what has worked well, and what some of the challenges have been, in the online learning and teaching environment.
The Forum will provide opportunities for participants to explore many aspects of peer learning in terms of theory and practice. This year we particularly welcome sessions on the following themes:
* Online peer learning: reflecting on the adaptations made, using technology
* Challenges of engaging students in the online space
* Developing graduate/ employability skills through peer leadership and student roles on campus
* Reaching across the student journey with peer learning
Our aim is for this forum is to be a supportive and encouraging environment for both staff and students. To this end, we particularly encourage student led sessions or student co-presenters.
Two types of session formats:
Presentations: 30 minutes, including no more than 20 minutes presentation with at least 10 minutes of questions and discussion. This format is ideal for presenting research, evaluation, innovation and/or practice.
Creative workshop: 50 minutes, which prioritises audience participation, exploration, creativity and action planning. This format is ideal for enabling people to collaboratively think about new ideas, reflect on their practice, and/or learn new skills.
*All presenters will be required to prepare a screen presentation and use the ‘screen share’ facility within the Zoom platform. Alternatively, presentations could be pre-recorded, followed then by a live chat session.
If you would like to discuss your proposal ideas, or need some help thinking through the format for the Creative Workshop option, please don’t hesitate to contact us. In the first instance, please email us on SI-PASS at stu.lu.se<mailto:SI-PASS at stu.lu.se>.
Please submit proposals no later than Monday 14th December 2020, using this link to the online submission form<https://www.si-pass.lu.se/form/international-forum-for-peer-learning-2021-c…>.
Criteria for acceptance of proposals
As this is a two-half-day online event, there may be varied capacity for the number of sessions we are able to accept and stream. Therefore, each proposal will be reviewed against the following criteria:
● Contribution to the forum themes;
● Clarity of the proposal, and accessible language;
● Contribution to practice, scholarship and evaluation of peer learning;
● Involvement of a student co-presenter;
● Active and productive engagement of participants.
For more information, please contact the team on SI-PASS at stu.lu.se<mailto:SI-PASS at stu.lu.se>
