The Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) at Södertörn University, Sweden,
announces the opening of a call for applications for the CBEES Summer School 2024:
The Return of History: Memory, War and the End of the "Post”
Memory Summer School Course (7.5 ECTS)
• Date: 12-17 August, 2024
• Location: Sigtuna, Stockholm County, Sweden
The course is devoted to in-depth studies of central theories of cultural memory, with a
particular focus on the relationship between cultural memory, politics, and history
writing in the region of Baltic, Central- and Eastern Europe today.
Details:
We welcome applications from PhD students focusing on Baltic, Central- and Eastern Europe
with a particular interest in the issues of memory and history. The summer school seeks
to develop critical thinking in the interdisciplinary field of Memory Studies, and we
expect interest from students from a range of subjects in the humanities and social
sciences, including history, political science, ethnology, philosophy, aesthetics and
similar.
Practical information:
* Participation in the Summer School is free of charge. All costs will be covered,
excluding the travel costs to and from the location.
* Students are awarded 7.5 ECTS for the completed course and also provided with
a Certificate of Completion.
* Applicants must send a short CV (max. two pages) and a two-page long project
description (in a Word or PDF format; Times New Roman, 12, 1,5 line spacing).
* The number of places in the course is limited to 15 participants to provide a good
learning experience.
Deadline for application: 15 March 2024
Successful applicants will be notified by early April.
