Call for Editor(s): Journal of Peer Learning
The Journal of Peer Learning is
an open-access, annual refereed journal established in 2008. The journal disseminates scholarly work about peer learning in a variety of contexts, with an emphasis on peer learning in higher education. More specifically, the journal seeks to publish scholarly
research that investigates innovations in peer learning including the implementation of programs in varied organisational and cultural contexts as well as evaluations of such programs to provide an evidential basis for peer learning activities. This is an
exciting time for the journal as it is in the process of being migrated to a new platform and institution.
The journal is currently accepting applications for the role of Editor. We will also consider this being a shared role between two Editors,
so please indicate if your preference is to be a Co-Editor. (Co-)Editors serve a three-year term and can anticipate managing the editing process for one journal volume per year at this stage. This involves performing an initial review of manuscripts to evaluate
their fit with the aims and scope of the journal, before assigning the articles to one of the journal’s four Associate Editors, who will then send manuscripts out for double-blind review, and working with the (Co-)Editor(s) to make a final decision regarding
each paper. Finally, the (Co-)Editor(s) work closely with the Copy-Editor to finalise the yearly journal issue(s).
(Co-)Editor(s) should hold advanced degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent preferred); have a minimum of five years’ experience in higher education;
have specific experience with, and knowledge of, peer learning; be affiliated with an accredited college or university; and have expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research design and analysis. Further, (Co-)Editor(s) should commit to
making a decision and assigning manuscripts to Associate Editors for review within two weeks of receipt. Finally, (Co)Editor(s) should understand the importance of their dual role of gatekeeper and shaper of research in the field of peer learning and should
therefore facilitate a rigorous review of manuscripts submitted for publication while also offering constructive and encouraging feedback to mentor fellow researchers and Associate Editors.
Individuals who meet these qualifications are invited to submit the following information to Associate Professor Henk Huijser (h.huijser@qut.edu.au).
Note: The role of (Co-)Editor is considered a voluntary leadership and service role and therefore does not come with
a stipend.
The deadline for receipt of completed nomination packages is COB (AEST) Monday
18 September 2023.
