Hello Jonas,
I think what you describe is correct. Make sure that the value is an
array/list, ie:
config.idp_config.metadata.local = [<file containing SP metadata>]
If the metadata is correctly loaded and contains the entityID of the
SP with the proper SPSSODescriptor the connection should work.
