Introducing the new Kaltura Player

The new Kaltura Player offers a sleek intuitive design, which supports new and existing plugins with a blink-of-an-eye load time. Coupled with updated UX/UI, and stellar performance, the studio and player are your one stop shop for all streaming needs. Anyone can check out the Kaltura Player over on our Learning site and at Virtually Live ‘22 + ‘21. We’re also happy to share stories of how it has recently supported big name brands like Vodafone, Disney, and Viacom, to name a few, as well as live broadcasts of large-scale events such as the World Cup and AWS Re:Invent.

What’s new & exciting in the Player?

Loads! In addition to the improved performance, stability, and accessibility mentioned above, here aresome of the capabilities previously unavailable: 

• IPv6 support
• Player UX/UI- beautiful up-to-date design with intuitive viewer experience.
• Plugins UX/UI enhancements 

• Transcript- easier to follow the spoken text
• Search and navigation- intuitive search across all areas with player metadata: chapters, slides, captions, and more.
• Browser picture-in-picture (“floating”) - video follows when scrolling

• New player studio- easy to use, faster player setup, includes plugin we’ve added customer requested capabilities
• Simplified CSS customization - now admins can add a CSS file 
• Google Tag Manager, Google analytics, Youbora analytics
• SmartTV support and native HTML5 video playback on supported platforms

What’s new & exciting in the Player Studio?

Lots of things! Here are a few highlights:

• List view - Ability to differentiate between system and custom players, bookmark favorite players, and many more (more details in the Knowledge Center, here)
• Player usage - Learn about your player's usability by tracking its number of plays and domains over the past 30 days.
• Add/remove plugins with simple toggle - and then customize each! (more details in the Knowledge Center, here)
• Preview videos showcasing each plugin (no need for the customer to have a video to see the plugins in preview)
• Create a Light player or Smart player - player with no plugins turned on, or Smart player with all plugins turned on.
• Upcoming soon: edit player color, live color, and background color
