Dear North Pole Fibre (NPF) and Polar Connect Step 1 (PC1) teams,
A non-NDA-version of the results from the Arctic Simulation has now been submitted to
HaDEA as part of the NPF project. Erik-Jan has done an excellent job preparing it based on
Martin Jakobsson’s analyses, and we know that it has stirred quite some interest in the
European Commission.
The purpose of the simulation is to (in even more detail) identify the shortest, soundest,
and most stable route for Polar Connect through the Central Arctic Ocean, based on
seafloor and ice condition data, and cable characteristics. The Arctic expeditions in PC1
(during the summers of 2025, 2026 and 2027) will collect data that further improves the
simulation, with each new data collection.
Attached is the submitted version, stripped of sensitive NDA-information.
Kind regards,
Lisa
