Call for Papers – ESEH 2025
The European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) is pleased to invite proposals for its biennial conference, taking place in Uppsala, Sweden, August 18th–22nd, 2025. The conference theme, Climate Histories,
seeks to bridge historical research on climate variability with current lived experiences, fostering deeper discourse and offering new perspectives on contemporary climate change.
The deadline for submissions has been extended to 15 November 2024, 23:59 CEST.
In addition to papers, panels, posters, and roundtables, the 2025 ESEH Conference welcomes many unconventional submission types under its “Different World Sessions”. These “Different World Session” types include:
History Cafes, Poetry Slams, Book Lounges, Public Debates, Artistic Interventions, and Skills Workshops. The aim is to spark innovative conversations about climate change, engaging not just academics but the wider public in meaningful and creative ways. We
encourage imaginative proposals that push boundaries and inspire fresh dialogues relevant to the Climate Histories theme.
Visit the ESEH 2025 website to submit a proposal as well as to read the full call which includes information about session types, travel grants, the conference theme, and our approach to diversity and inclusivity.
