Located in the Botanical Garden in Uppsala, the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) is a national institute
for advanced study.
For the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28, the Collegium offers fellowships within its newly launched Sabbatical
Fellowship Programme. The programme is a residential fellowship programme open to scholars mainly in the humanities and social sciences who hold a position at one of the nominating Swedish universities (see the list below).
The programme gives fellows the opportunity to concentrate on their own research interests, free from the teaching
and administrative duties of ordinary university life. Fellows are, however, expected to be active members of the Collegium’s scholarly community and to participate in seminars and other academic events outside their own fields of specialization.
Candidates may be nominated for a single semester, a full academic year or a shorter period
(1-4 months).
